Overlooking Maine’s largest glacier lake, Blair Hill Inn’s stunning ten-guest room country estate sits commandingly atop a 20′ high, 900′ long field stone wall.  Its hillside perch provides one of the most beautiful, expansive lake views in the world. This destination resort sprawls across 79 acres with private hiking trails, scenic overlooks, a trout pond, fields and woodlands. Once a breeding farm built in 1891, it is now a finely restored boutique hotel with exquisite décor and exceptional service.

The renowned, gourmet restaurant serves a tasty farm-to-table menu and the handsome wood-paneled cocktail lounge offers fine wines, libations, and small bites. The warm welcome, individual service, absolute discretion and love of detail are evidenced by being one of only two Relais & Châteaux designated hotels and restaurants in Maine.

Oversees all aspects of hotel, restaurant and spa operations, ensuring smooth daily functioning, profitability, and exceptional guest experiences.They are responsible for managing staff, maintaining budgets, implementing business strategies, and fostering a positive work environment. Essentially, they are the leaders who set the direction for the hotel property and ensure all departments work towards the same goals. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Management:

    Developing and managing the hotel's budget, forecasting revenue and expenses, analyzing financial performance, and implementing cost-saving measures. 

  • Staff Management:

    Recruiting, hiring, training, and supervising staff, fostering a positive work environment, and ensuring high levels of customer service. 

  • Guest Relations:

    Ensuring guest satisfaction, handling complaints, and implementing strategies to enhance the guest experience. 

  • Strategic Planning:

    Developing and implementing strategies to increase revenue, market share, and profitability, including sales and marketing initiatives. 

  • Compliance:

    Ensuring the hotel adheres to all relevant laws, regulations, and policies. 

  • Maintaining Standards:

    Upholding the hotel's brand image, service standards, and overall quality. 

  • Overall Operations Management:

    Overseeing all hotel departments (front desk, housekeeping, food & beverage, maintenance, etc.) to ensure efficient and seamless service delivery.

  • Leadership: Motivating and inspiring staff, fostering a positive work culture, and leading by example. 
  • Communication: Effectively communicating with staff, guests, and other stakeholders. 
  • Financial Acumen: Understanding financial statements, budgeting, forecasting, and revenue management. 
  • Problem-Solving: Identifying and resolving issues efficiently and effectively. 
  • Customer Service: Prioritizing guest satisfaction and creating a positive experience. 
  • Adaptability: Thriving in a fast-paced environment and adapting to changing circumstances. 

In essence, the hotel innkeeper & general manager is the driving force behind the hotel's success, responsible for both the operational and financial aspects of the business while ensuring a positive and memorable experience for every guest.
