About Us

Set on 15 acres of beautiful land, Thornbury Castle Hotel is the only Tudor Castle operating as a hotel in England. The Castle has recently undergone a multi-million pound refurbishment program bringing back to life the regal grandeur of its past. Located 20 minutes’ drive from Bristol, it offers 26 rooms and suites, an award-winning restaurant, bar and two unique meeting and conference spaces.

We are seeking a driven, dynamic and commercially experienced professional with a passion for the hospitality industry.

Key Responsibilities

Events

  • Responding to relevant M&E enquiries in line with company standards
  • Actioning enquiries promptly and following up on a timely basis
  • Prepare proposals and contracts, check billings, invoices and process payments and input accurately into hotel systems.
  • Sales driven and ability to optimise every sales opportunity
  • Proactively convert key provisional business through show rounds and proactive chase
  • Conduct show rounds with prospective clients promoting the hotel
  • Ensure clear billing instructions and communication of these details to the operations team
  • Compiling accurate function sheets, distributing weekly and discussing with Operations team accordingly, providing updates as required.
  • Work closely with the F&B & Front of House team to ensure smooth running and execution of weddings, conferences and events on site along in collaboration with the Sales and Events team
  • Meet targets, KPI’s, schedules, follow company policies and procedures, and comply with all health and safety regulations.
  • Ability to deal with all enquiries and provide information and quotations via phone and emails.
  • Ability to identify customers’ needs and respond proactively to all of their concerns
  • Greet function organisers and be the point of contact and fully responsible for the ceremony/event.

 

Sales

  • Manage local key clients and customers to grow relationships and encourage repeat business.
  • Support Hotel service and strategy by regularly updating action plans, reports and financial objectives
  • Proactively generate leads and promote the hotel through research, attend industry events, networking and targeted outreach
  • Monitor and stay ahead of market trends and competitor activities and adjust sales strategies accordingly based on competitor analysis and local market insight.
  • Supporting the overall Sales and Events team to help achieve sales targets, handling calls and enquiries and producing event proposals and contracts.
  • Develop and build relationships with new and existing customers, travel management agents and group agents to enable future bookings, through sales calls, organizing FAM trips, attending industry events when needed etc
  • Collaborate with the central sales and marketing teams to identify marketing opportunities to maximise exposure and drive revenue
  • Record and maintain accurate data through relevant CRM systems and current processes.

  • Proven experience working in proactive sales or events within hotel events/sales or leisure and tourism
  • A proven track record of achieving sales targets
  • Highly organised with the ability to manage your schedule and work independently as well as being a reliable member of the overall sales and events team.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation and communication skills both oral and written
  • Self-motivated and results oriented with a record of meeting or exceeding targets
  • Willingness to travel and be flexible with working hours.
  • Ability to establish trust and build rapport with potential clients and maintain good working relationships with colleagues in all departments of the hotel
  • Ability to provide and demonstrate exceptional guest service
  • Confident in using Microsoft Office and CRM systems
  • Precise and detailed oriented
  • Clean, valid Driving License

  • Competitive salary from £28,000 per annum
  • 40 hours per week, worked over 5 days including weekends (based on business needs.)
  • 28 days holiday including bank holidays with an additional day on your birthday
  • Complimentary stay at the Castle after 3 months’ probation period successfully passed
  • Sickness benefit of 5 days (after 6 months service)
