The Commis Chef plays a foundational role within the kitchen, supporting preparation, organization, and execution within a culinary program rooted in seasonality, respect for ingredients, and Southwestern and Mexican traditions.

This position is designed for development—requiring discipline, attention to detail, and a strong willingness to learn while contributing to consistency and quality in every service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with ingredient preparation and mise en place under the direction of the Chef de Partie and Sous Chef
  • Execute basic cooking tasks with accuracy and consistency
  • Maintain clean, organized, and well-stocked workstations
  • Follow established recipes, techniques, and kitchen standards
  • Assist in preparing components (sauces, garnishes, prep items, etc.)
  • Support the team to ensure efficient service flow
  • Adhere to all food safety, sanitation, and cleanliness standards (HACCP)
  • Actively learn kitchen techniques, processes, and standards

Qualifications

  • 0–2 years of kitchen experience or formal culinary training
  • Basic knowledge of cooking techniques and kitchen equipment
  • Strong desire to learn and grow within a professional kitchen
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Basic understanding of food safety and sanitation (preferred)
