The Night Auditor is responsible for overseeing the hotel’s front office operations during overnight hours while ensuring accurate financial and administrative reporting for the property. The role combines guest service responsibilities with accounting and operational duties, ensuring a smooth, secure, and professional overnight operation in accordance with hotel standards.

The Night Auditor serves as the main point of contact for guests during the night shift, handling late arrivals, guest requests, and overnight procedures while preparing daily financial reconciliations and reports.

Front Office & Guest Service

  • Welcome and assist late check-ins and early check-outs professionally and efficiently.
  • Handle guest requests, inquiries, and complaints during overnight hours.
  • Ensure a calm, safe, and welcoming environment for all guests.
  • Maintain excellent knowledge of hotel services, facilities, and emergency procedures.

Night Audit & Financial Procedures

  • Perform end-of-day accounting procedures and night audit processes accurately.
  • Reconcile daily revenue, payments, and transactions from all hotel departments.
  • Verify room rates, charges, and guest accounts for accuracy.
  • Generate daily financial and operational reports for management.
  • Ensure proper closing and balancing of the Property Management System (PMS).

Operational Duties

  • Monitor hotel security and overnight activity.
  • Coordinate with housekeeping, maintenance, and security teams when required.
  • Prepare wake-up calls, early breakfast requests, and scheduled guest services.
  • Ensure the lobby and front office area remain clean and organized.

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate records and documentation.
  • Handle cash, credit card transactions, and billing procedures securely.
  • Communicate important overnight incidents or operational updates to morning management and front office teams.

  • Previous experience in Front Office, Reception, or Night Audit within a hotel environment preferred.
  • Knowledge of PMS systems (Opera, Fidelio, Protel, or similar) is an advantage.
  • Strong numerical and organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and handle overnight responsibilities calmly and professionally.
  • Excellent communication and guest service skills.
  • Good written and spoken English; additional languages are a plus.
  • Basic knowledge of accounting or hotel financial procedures preferred.
  • Flexibility to work overnight shifts, weekends, and holidays.
